At Mills Gosse Psychology, autism (ASD) assessments are available as an addition to our psychoeducational assessments.
This allows us to develop a complete understanding of your child's strengths, challenges, and support needs while providing practical recommendations for home and school.
About Autism (ASD) Assessments
Families often seek answers when they have questions about their child’s social communication, behaviour, sensory experiences, emotional regulation, or learning profile. An Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) assessment can provide valuable insight into a child’s strengths, challenges, and support needs, helping families better understand how their child experiences and interacts with the world.
At Mills Gosse Psychology, an ASD assessment is a comprehensive psychological evaluation that helps determine whether a child or teen meets the diagnostic criteria for ASD. It is offered as a specialized component of our psychoeducational assessment services.
Our experienced clinicians use evidence-based tools and a compassionate, child-centred approach to develop a clear understanding of your child’s development, communication style, social interactions, behaviour, and day-to-day functioning. The process also provides practical recommendations for home, school, and everyday life.
Depending on your child’s needs, the assessment may include:
Parent and caregiver interviews
Developmental history review
Standardized assessment measures
Behavioural observations
Questionnaires and rating scales
Review of educational, medical, or previous assessment records
Each ASD assessment is individualized and tailored to your child’s unique strengths and areas of concern.

Our Process
Psychoeducational Assessment + Autism Assessment
At Mills Gosse Psychology, ASD assessments are available for children and teens aged 7 to 19 as an add-on to a psychoeducational assessment. This combined approach provides a comprehensive understanding of your child's strengths, challenges, and support needs, while offering practical recommendations for home, school, and everyday life.
Important Information
A psychoeducational assessment alone does not provide a comprehensive Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) assessment, and cannot formally diagnose ASD.
ASD assessments are available as an additional service that can be paired with our psychoeducational assessments.
This option is designed for families seeking a formal ASD diagnosis as part of a comprehensive assessment process.
ASD Appointment Timeline & Process
Once the psychoeducation assessment is complete, the ASD assessment typically includes 3 additional appointments:
ASD Clinical Interview (1 hour, video or telephone)
ASD Testing Appointment (2 hours, in person)
ASD Feedback Appointment (1 hour, video or telephone)
Assessment Fees
Psychoeducational Assessment fees range from $3,825 - $4,275
To add an ASD Assessment, the additional fee ranges from $900 - $1350
Unsure Whether an ASD Assessment Is Needed?
If you're uncertain whether a full ASD assessment is appropriate, we typically include ASD screening measures as part of the psychoeducational assessment.
If the screening results suggest that a comprehensive ASD assessment would be beneficial, we will discuss this with you and offer it as an add-on at that time.
To help us plan and ensure the appropriate measures are included, please let us know at the outset whether you are interested in:
Psychoeducational assessment only
Psychoeducational assessment with ASD screening
Psychoeducational assessment plus a full ASD assessment
Clinical Team Approach
At Mills Gosse Psychology, every assessment is overseen by a registered psychologist who is responsible for all aspects of care.
You will be informed of the psychologist assigned to your case before services begin.
Depending on the assessment, some components may be completed by a supervised member of our clinical team.
This team-based approach allows us to provide comprehensive, high-quality assessments while ensuring all services meet professional standards.
Insurance & Additional Information
Receipts are provided for completed services and may be submitted to your insurance provider.
We recommend confirming your coverage before booking, as some plans do not reimburse assessment services or report-writing time.
All assessments are supervised by a registered Psychologist, who maintains full clinical responsibility for the assessment process.
If you anticipate needing third-party forms or documentation completed, please let us know before booking.
